The children had a great time working in teams to roll the the snowballs around the playground to make them bigger and bigger. We built the snowman who turned out to be a cowgirl once she’d been dressed. Please enjoy looking at some of the photos from our exciting morning.
Today the children have been learning the basic skills of tennis, how to control their ball. We pretended our ball was our dog and we had to take it for a walk without letting it run off. The children were all very good and showed some real talent with their control. Well done to all of the children.
The children each made a bracelet today. They thought they were just having fun when really they were all learning to count 10 beads, find their own initials and using their fine motor skills threading the beads onto the string using a needle.
This week we have been learning the reversible changes in freezing water. We filled 5 balloons with coloured water and placed them in different places around the classroom and playground. We put one in our fridge, one in our freezer and three outside around the playground. We have been checking on them throughout the week to see what changes have been happening. Today we checked and only the balloon in the freezer had frozen so we opened it up to have a closer look. We have left the others to see if any changes occur over the weekend. Take a peek at our ice ball that we passed around today. Ask your child if they can remember any great words to describe it and let us know what they say by leaving us a comment.
This term our topic is Traditional Stories. Our first story that we have been reading has been Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The children have loved dressing up in the role play area and retelling the story. We have had outdoor activities to re-enact the story. Lots of writing opportunities, maths with counting and weighing, cutting and sticking, sequencing but best of the all the children loved making and eating the porridge. Please enjoy a few photos of the children making the porridge.
The Christmas period arrived with lots of excitement and laughter in Reception class. We started slightly earlier than normal at the end of November with a Christmas Jumper Day followed by lots of lovely activities, crafts, productions and parties. Please take a few moments to have a look at a selection of photos taken during this month of madness. 🙂
Don’t worry, the children still did lots of learning during the last few weeks but I thought you’d like to see the photos of all the fun we had this time.
We have had a very busy start to the month learning lots and lots of Maths. We have been learning heavy and light, capacity, taller and shorter and shapes. We are getting really good.
On Monday 5th November we had our first PE lesson using the equipment. We had out the big climbing frame to climb up and down as well as going over, under and through. We also had the benches to walk along and jump from the horses onto the mats. If was a brilliant lesson.
